(Mu) from Japanese literally means "nothing". I made this painting out of a series of others dedicated to Edgardo Mannucci, Fontana and Burri in particular. Mu it's the result of multiple layers of colors and thoughts. When I finished I looked at this canvas and I felt something unusual. My thoughts, my words, even the sounds of them and my emotions are sucked in the centre of the canvas. I feel like a string made out of smoke was attached to my chest and unavoidably this smoke is magnetically attracted and enters in between its white shaded slits. I can't find anything. I can't think of anything. I have only this series of feelings. They are not negative but they are not positive either. So I talked to my wife about it and when I showed her and asked what she felt, she promptly said: This is Mu. The feeling you have is like you feel it but you don't feel it at the same time. (Women are always a step ahead of men).
